Our meeting was at Rockler in Phoenix. We just love their classroom. Lots of room, comfortable chairs, air conditioned and well equipped.
Our guest instructor was Dave Flemming. Dave's a local professional who also instructs for Rockler and Southwest School Of Woodworking
Dave's presentation was fabulous. Everything and anything you wanted to know about shellac was covered and members had lots of questions regarding what it can go over and what can be put under a shellac finish.
Dave suggested that every woodworker have a "goto finish". This is a finish that you know will turn out great every single time. It's bullet proof against screw ups and problems. No experimentation is required. His "goto" finish is shellac.
Some great show and tell projects were reviewed along with some new suggestions for potential policy changes to the way our club operates.
Don't panic, members in attendance seems overwhelmingly in favor of the suggested changes.
